Trusting 2014

Happy 2014! If you haven’t noticed yet, things are a wee bit different around here. I’m so excited about the new look and feel of the blog. I decided over the break to switch from Blogger to WordPress and finally take the plunge on getting my own domain. Really digging everything so far and feeling super fancy pants.

With a new fancy blog comes new perspective &  new goals. After catching up with friends and family over the break I realized that I am not taking the time to really take note of our life and how it has been changing. For this year I have set a goal to blog at least once a week if not more. I think this is going to be a great creativity booster and meet my initial goals of this blog, which is to keep tabs on our life and how we are growing and changing.

Blogging aside, my real goal for this new year (side note: I have never really set hard resolutions and goals – mixed feelings and all that jazz that could make up an entire post of it’s own) is to be open minded and trusting. In November, I was able to go on a silent retreat with some ladies from our parish and we all had to choose a word that symbolized our take away from our time spent in prayer and reflection. Mine was trust. Trusting God, trusting life, trusting that everything will be ok. Too often I find myself ruminating over needless worries and stresses. With our little lady coming in April, this year is sure to be filled with new learning adventures. I cannot even begin to think that I know that I’m doing and need to be as open minded as possible. God has got it covered.

trust
trəst/
noun
1. firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.
“relations have to be built on trust”
synonyms: confidence, belief, faith, certainty, assurance, conviction, credence; More

This year is going to be fantastic. I know it will have it’s ups, downs, challenges, and everything else in between but we are going to make it count by taking it day by day and living this life we have been so abundantly blessed with. Here’s to openly accepting God’s will over my own and knowing that I will be taken care of always. I think that makes for a pretty wonderful outlook on the start of 2014, don’t you?

IMG_0163Linking up with some other fabulous bloggers in a new year’s post kick off of sorts. If you are looking for inspiration and a new perspective on this fresh start of 2014 you should definitely check them out and maybe even figure out a focus word of your own to gain some direction this new year!
